Restoring what was broken
Before Adam and Eve blew it, there was perfect intimacy and a love relationship between God and His creation. Unfortunately, when human beings shook their fist at God and chose to do their own thing and went their own way, this intimate love relationship between God and people was destroyed. The intimacy between Adam and Eve was wrecked; they started blaming each other right away. Our perfect love-peace with God, others and even ourselves was no longer in place. As a result, all manner of sin, sickness, disease and strife entered the world. None of this was God’s will. However, God did not give us what we deserved, but out of His love, compassion, mercy and holiness, He provided a way for us to come back into that intimate love relationship with Him. The whole Bible is a story of the Mission of God to restore us to this intimate love relationship with Himself. The 2nd part of the Bible, the New Testament, is the story of the final phase of this rescue plan. Jesus Christ left heaven, came to earth (missional) and became a human being (incarnational). He did this to show us what God the Father was like, and to show us how to live the Christian life, and to show us how to help and love others. Jesus left heaven to die on the cross to make relationship with the Father a possibility. God raised Him from the dead after three days. Our rebellion was paid for through that death. The Father benefits by us being able to return to what He always wanted—a love relationship. We benefit by being able to be restored to what God always intended—having the ability to love Him and others (including ourselves). All that remains is for us to understand this, repent of our rebellion, and trust in Jesus Christ alone for our forgiveness and freedom from the clutches of sin. If we sincerely do this, He forgives us all our sins and His Holy Spirit comes and changes us from rebels to followers of Jesus. Forgiven and changed people may stumble along the way, but they are people who are in relationship with Him again and who become more and more like His Son Jesus as they follow Him.
Trinity’s part in the restoration
At Trinity we believe the purpose of the church is to be a House of Prayer that restores relationships with the Father. We are still in process and are not where we would like to be yet. As Jesus came on mission He sends us out on the same mission. Out of love for God we love our neighbor. Because we love our neighbor we try to do what Jesus did--we help our neighbors with their needs and share with them the good news of forgiveness and a transformed heart. We minister Jesus’ healing to our neighbor’s wounded hearts and broken bodies. We teach and train our neighbor how to live the life Jesus intends for them. We then send them out to do the same for their neighbor.
· Our Motive: Love for God and others for His honour and glory;
· Our Task: Fulfill the Great Commission to restore relationships with the Father;
· Our Example: The Love, Life, Teaching, Ministry and Message of Jesus Christ;
· Our Means: Prayer and Truth and Love;
· Our Help: Father’s Love, Mercy and Grace, Jesus’ Authority & Intercession, and Holy Spirit’s Power;
· Why Possible: God’s love and Jesus’ Death and Resurrection and Presence of the Spirit.
The invitation
If you do not know God or have a love relationship with Him we welcome you to connect with us. We are trying to connect with you as we do not necessarily expect you to come to church. However as Jesus came to us, we want to come to you and tell you of His love for you. Please touch base with us!
If you are already a Christian and attend a local church, please be encouraged to stay in your church! If you are looking for a home church or are new to Waterloo we welcome you to join us if you believe our direction is the direction God has in mind for you. As was said above we are focusing on being a House of Prayer (praying and ministering healing just as Jesus did) and Missional (sent out on mission to the world just as Jesus was) and Incarnational (leaving our comfort zone to get involved in the lives of those who do not know God just as Jesus did with us).
If you are in agreement with this and are willing to embrace it, please consider joining us. If not, continue searching for that place that is more in line with what you are looking for.
God Bless you on your journey.
